Jon, Kate and crew were headed off to Hawaii. Their first stop was San Diego. They all piled on the plane and prepared for the first 3 hour leg of their journey. Kate made sure she was well prepared with snacks, toys, and other other item that would head a meltdown off at the pass.
Jon And Kate Take Eight Children On Vacation
The children did an amazing job on the plane. They ate, slept and played without causing a ruckus. Of course there were the 15 million trips to the potty but that is to be expected. Once the plane landed in San Diego they were ready to roll, well everyone but one of the boys. He seemed to love the plane just a bit too much and did not want to leave. Eventually he was convinced and off they went.
The house they were staying in was wonderful. Just the perfect amount of room for everyone. It was also situated right on the water so sand and surf were at easy access.
Legoland And San Diego Zoo’s Wild Animal Park
Legoland and San Diego Zoo’s Wild Animal Park were huge hits with the kids. I just loved to watch their little faces light up when they saw the rides and the animals. It was adorable.
I can not wait till next week to see their adventures in Hawaii. It is going to be breathtaking.

So, let me get this straight… Blissfully Domestic is now promoting Jon & Kate Plus 8. Have you watched this show?
The parents have sold out their children to the highest bidder–Figure 8 Films and TLC. TLC/Figure 8 record this family’s life 3 to 4 times per week for a total of 50 episodes per year. The family’s house is wired with microphones, heavy duty lighting, and the children and parents wear portable microphones. There is no privacy in their home…it is virually a TV recording studio.
Neither parents work a full-time job. The parents have been quoted as saying “the show is our life, our life is our show.” These eight children are not given any choice as to whether they want their lives recorded. The parents have signed numerous deals with V-Tech, Good Housekeeping, the Grain Council, K-Mart, Sesame Place, for money or freebies. The children are paraded around like the “latter-day Dionne Quintuplets.
I will not be watching this show. I am surprised that this website is promoting the show.
Sher–I think you and I are watching two very different shows. The children may not be micced all day long, but these parents are living off the income generated by the stars’ of the show: their EIGHT children. Without the “Plus 8″ there would be no show. Period.
These eight children do not have a normal life. These children are not child actors and as such are not protected by the Jackie Coogan law–a law enacted to protect the earnings of child stars from the greed of parents and managers. Any money earned by the parents of Jon & Kate PLus 8 belongs to the parents. Check out Paul Petersen’s site http://www.aminorcon.org for more information on child actor labor laws.
I am not trying to be controversial or confrontational. I apologize if I sound strident. I am a mom who is genuinely concerned for these children.
Well, I love the show. And if I had 8 kids I’d need creative ways to generate some income too! They are not always recording, they are not always wired. The kids are not scripted or being forced to act like child stars. I’m inspired by the show. I watch it and say, “if they can do it with 8 kids, I can handle my 2 blessings.”
God bless them!
Blessings,
Sher
I am sure that not everyone agrees with the choices this family makes but we have to respect them. We only see what is shown on TV and are not with the family 100% of the time. We only see a small fraction of their days and we should not be quick to judge them on that.
Hi, we are big fans of Jon and Kate Plus 8 at Fancast.com too, and thought your readers might like to know that if they want to catch up on some classic episodes, or just see what all the fuss is about, beginning on Monday, 11/10 we will be putting up some special episodes, all totally free of course – we will have 6 shows (5 are the most popular shows throughout the seasons and 1 is from the current season where Jon and Kate renew their wedding vows).
