Hi, I’m Jill and I will be your guide through this season of Survivor. Well first, let my qualify myself as a Survivor expert. The hubby and I have watched every season and…well that’s it. If we were to ever go on the show, I am pretty sure we wouldn’t last a week. I don’t even camp and get quite irritable when I can’t shower regularly.
Let me just say right off the bat, why are people still wearing suits and dresses to this show? I can’t imagine they haven’t seen the show before and how functional are heels and a dress when you are in the jungle?
On to the show. Jeff Probst stuck it to the old folk right away with a schoolyard pick of their tribes with no gender restrictions. Bob vs. Jillian with the first pick since they are the oldest. This led right into a individual immunity/reward challenge. The Fang tribe looking pretty weak which wasn’t much of a surprise considering their picking strategy which seemed to actually be no strategy at all.
Stuff gets interesting right away with Jillian hunting for elephant dung and encouraging people to eat the seeds in it and Ace leading the Kota tribe in yoga in their underwear to prepare for the second challenge.
Fang loses the challenge again by a mile. At Tribal Council, Jeff suggests they vote in a leader and they pick GC. He clearly does not want to be the leader and steps down after a day at his post. Fang chooses to vote off Michelle who can’t seem to contain her hatred for her own group. Not a horrible decision, but why haven’t people learned from previous survivors that you keep strong people on in the beginning if they are competitors to help you in challenges? You get rid of the weak people even if they are likable.
Alliances are beginning to form. Not really sure there is much of a coherent one over on Fang, but Kota seems to have a strong one led by Charlie and Marcus.
By the end of the show, Fang is beginning to get their act together. They almost won a challenge, they went MacGyver and fashioned fishing gear out of glasses and shoelaces, caught a fish and made a wise choice in voting someone off.
I still am not sold. They have some of the most unlikable people on their team and seem to be destined for failure until Jeff decides to shake things up and switch up the tribes cause even Jeff seems annoyed with their patheticness. Kota? Can’t find much downside here, really strong tribe with some good alliances forming. I am sure they will annoy me soon enough.
Injury Count= 1 Randy takes one to the head
Unreturned affections = 2 Michelle not feeling Ken, Charlie so in love with Marcus who doesn’t swing that way
Voting Casualties= Michelle and Jillian both off the Fang tribe
Jill is trying to figure out when to possibly blog now that all the good TV is back on, but when she finds the time, she blogs over at Diaper Diaries.

I’m so glad that someone out there knows that suits and or tank tops don’t cut it in the African Jungle! I was like “gee…If i’m going on Survivor….should I wear my business suit?” NO…..I woudl totally be wearing jungle attire…such as mosquito netting hat/zip away pants, etc…
Oh well, maybe Survivor 75, they will learn!
I am so glad I wasn’t the only thinking about the clothing thing. I mean really, people! You’re going to be cold and wet. Bring a sweater! (and wear a better bra!!)
I thought it was funny Marcus had to point out there won’t be two Adams in this Eden. Good lookin’ and funny, that boy is! (Okay, don’t tell my husband I just said that!)
I was about to quit Survivor after realizing they might vote Dan off…..SERIOUSLY! The jungle must bring about paranoia.
With Survivor being one of the “founding” reality shows, you would think that people would learn some of the basics, like wearing decent shoes and clothes, like not trying to complain all the time or basically not being overly annoying – which all happened in the first show!
This season is being offered in HD – which I don’t have, but you can really tell form some of the scenes and angles, I wish I had HD – or someone with HD could comment on how awesome it is!
I remember seeing an interview with Wanda from Survivor Palau, where she said that the dress she had on was the producers decision not hers. They decide what people will wear based on the image they want to project. I’m pretty sure that most people by now would have gotten a clue and would be wearing survival type clothes if they could. But it’s seems they don’t have that option.
It also annoys me how edited the show is now compared to how it used to be. You can see it in the way the taping is done and how they will show individual “reactions” in single shots rather than group shots.
Good to know about the producers forcing them to wear those clothes. Still doesn’t quite explain why they like to run around in bras and underwear.
Also, I actually have a high def TV and must say it is quite amazing to watch that way.
