As I’m sure you’ve already heard, Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale welcomed their new son, Zuma Nesta Rock, into the world on August 21st. With a name like that (and seriously, after reading the following, this name barely registers a “meh” on the unique-o-meter), it prompts us to dust off the archives of celebrity baby names. From the unusual file:
· Rumor, Scout, and Tallulah (Bruce Willis and Demi Moore)
· Apple and Moses (Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin)
· Moxie CrimeFighter (Penn Jillette)
· Rocket, Racer, Rebel, and Rogue (Director Robert Rodriguez)
· Dweezil, Ahmet, Moon Unit, and Diva Muffin (Frank Zappa)
· Ever Gabo (Milla Jovovich and Paul Anderson)
· Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lily (Michael Hutchence and Paula Yates)
· Banjo (Rachel Griffiths)
· Duncan Zowie Heywood Jones (David Bowie)
· Fifi Trixiebelle, Peaches Honeyblossom, and Little Pixie (Bob Geldof)
· Pilot Inspektor (Jason Lee)
Just to name a few. “Heavenly” and “Ever” ? Those are adverbs. “Little” and “Rogue” ? Adjectives. “Banjo” ? Musical instrument made famous by the movie Deliverance. “CrimeFighter” and “Pilot Inspektor” ? Those are job descriptions and one of them belonging to Batman. And when you name your child Diva are you just asking for the worst case of terrible twos ever? That would be “ever” as in: to great extent or degree; not as in “Ever Gabo”: the person.

I just wanna SMACK some of these numbnuts. Bob Geldof is tall and stringy; the odds are good his daughter (God I HOPE it’s a girl) named Little Pixie will turn out 5’11″ and bony and awkward. Yay team — ain’t SHE prepared for a life of teasing!
I forgot about some of those doozies.
They would be funny if someone wasn’t really saddled with such a silly moniker.
(Although you manage Tootsie very well.)
Tootsie has a way with words and names, well, nom de plumes.
