Ben & Jerry, Elton John and Ice Cream
Ben & Jerry’s is serving up a new drool worthy ice cream dedicated to Elton John. The new flavor is called ‘Goodbye Yellow Brickle Road’ named after John’s 1970′s song and album. The flavor is said to contain chocolate ice cream, peanut butter cookie dough, butter brickle, and white chocolate chunks. Sounds rather yummy, if you ask me. The flavor will be available from July 18th-25th and proceeds will be donated to the Elton John AIDS Foundation. I love Elton John, and I love ice cream. Overall, it sounds like a nice combination to me.
Lauren Conrad Leaves Humane Society Event
In less honorable charity news, the Hills diva Lauren Conrad walked off out and off of a New York City charity event held by Animal Fair magazine. The proceeds from the event,’Paws for Style’, benefit the Humane Society of NY. This was the 9th annual holding of the event.
Actually, the Humane Society receives 100% of the proceeds. Conrad’s expenses for the event were paid by Animal Fair magazine, and it is rumored she was even given $20,000 from an outside source to attend. However, LC left the event before ever doing her part, which involved walking down the aisle in the finale while modeling with a rescued dog.
If you had a chance to work with any charitable organization, what would it be?

I would work with a breast cancer organization, or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. And I give money to Catholic Relief Services, but getting to travel with them and actually do some of the work would be an amazing opportunity.
My little brother is a 20+ year survivor of Retinoblastoma — cancer of the retina. He lost his eye but not his life! I would work with Retinoblastoma International in order to raise awareness, pass legislation requiring newborn screening, and provide support systems to families strugging with this often fatal disease.
Hands down it would be the Ronald McDonald House. I love what they do to help families dealing with sick and hurting children.
First, that Ben and Jerry’s sounds delicious! Too bad it’s only going to be out for a week. I am seriously going to stockpile some.
I have several favorite causes. I recently blogged about Kiva – a fabulous organization that makes micro-loans in developing countries. You can make a difference in someone’s life for $25 – and they pay you back!. Total win-win charity. Kiva.com.
I would work for charities like the One Foundation who help mothers and orphaned children in Africa with AIDS. Also, any charity devoted to helping abused and neglected or sick children. These are all causes I hold close to my heart.
