The buzz around town is that Dakota Fanning is being cast in the role of Jane in the Twilight sequel New Moon. Jane is the Italian Volturi vampire, a character that would put Ms. Fanning opposite Twilight superstars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson.
US magazine Entertainment Weekly‘s reports that she was offered the role outright. Fanning has starred in War Of The Worlds, and has her upcoming film The Secret Life of Bees.
One rumor that seems to have ‘bitten’ the dust is that Vanessa Hudgens (High School Musical) was slated for the role of Leah Clearwater as reported by TMZ. Casting news is arriving more frequently as filming is set to start in March in Toronto and Italy.

I hope New Moon has a bigger budget than Twilight so they can do some REAL special effects!
Yay! Dakota Fanning will be perfect as “Jane!” She is who I was picturing as that character while reading the book. Although, I was picturing a younger Dakota Fanning. Oh well. I’m sure she will be great!
I think she might work but im not sure so i guess ill jst have to wait and see!

i am glad that they are putting dakota in the movie, i am a big fan of hers, but i am not as happy to know that vanessa is going to be in there. i like her and all, but i just wouldnt like her in this movie, she is way to preppy and frilly to play leah.
