Some of my favorite shows are coming back this month, and what I suspect will become a new favorite debuts as well.
White Collar begins Season 2 on July 13 at 8 p.m. (CST), and it promises to be even more clever and charming than its first 14 episodes. Is it just me, or does it seem like this show has been on much longer than one season? I imagine we’ll continue to learn more about the mysterious music box that Neal is chasing, while adding the mystery of who killed Kate. Not to mention more Matt Bomer, his crazy blue eyes and crazy cut abs.
Psych begins its fifth season on July 14 at 9 p.m. (CST), and I’m looking forward to more nicknames and sly pop culture references than ever. Shawn and Gus have never gotten tired or old like their USA counterpart, Monk, did for me. They simply crack me up every time! And don’t forget to watch their Psych Outs during the credits or on the show’s website.
Covert Affairs is a new show premiering on July 13 at 9 p.m. (CST). From the previews, it looks like a fun companion to White Collar. Here’s the network’s description:
New jobs are tough — especially when your new employer is the CIA. Annie Walker (Piper Perabo) is fluent in six languages, has traveled the world and is besting her fellow CIA trainees in every test. But that doesn’t explain why she’s suddenly summoned by CIA headquarters to report for active duty as a field operative one month before her training is over. She doesn’t know there may be something — or someone — from her past that her CIA bosses are really after.
Annie’s unofficial guide to the CIA is Auggie Anderson (Christopher Gorham), a tech ops expert who was blinded while on assignment. As Annie navigates this new world of intrigue, danger and bureaucratic red tape, Auggie is there to make sure this quick study won’t be kept in the dark for long. Also starring Peter Gallagher, Kari Matchett, Sendhil Ramamurthy and Anne Dudek.
Apparently the USA Network could just sense an emptiness in my life, as I longed for yet another TV show about spies. Or they noticed that I – and, it seems, much of America – will watch just about anything about spies. Either way, this new show looks good. Also, I wish they’d make another Bourne movie.
Here are a couple previews. If you cannot see the embedded videos, click through for The Spy Next Door and What Are Friends For?
Will you watch these shows? What are your favorite summer shows?
