There has been some recent discussion of the odd baby names that have been floating around from celebrities.
The newest in that trend is little Sunday Rose Kidman Urban. She joins the long line of Suri, Apple, Pilot Inspekter, Diva, and my all time favorite Tabooger. While most of these names make us cringe their parents are very pleased with what they have chosen.
Chris Martin recently gave his take on the aversion that people have to the more creative names the stars have been giving their children. He and wife Gwyneth Paltrow graced their two young children with names that were not at the top of the list for best baby names, Apple and Moses. Martin defends their choices as well as the chooses of other parents in an interview he gave to Us Weekly.
Do you think people, not just celebrities have gone overboard with their name choices? Is it creative thinking or just one more thing for the poor kid to get his or her butt kicked on the playground?

I just wrote about this (minus the celebrities)! Crazy!

My son has an unusual name (Easton) but I cannot believe my sister named her baby boy Tyson Danger. Now when he’s older, my nephew will be able to say (just like Austin Powers) “Danger is my middle name.” Bleh! Give me a break! I love my sister and my nephew but that is a bit out there!
I think everyone is getting somewhat ‘out there’ with their baby-naming, but celebrities still give their kids the craziest names by far!
Now…I want to know who named their kid Tabooger so I can go kick their butt. The parent/celeb, not the kid.
Just though I would add, Sunday isn’t a Hollywood name. The name was that of the “Muse” of an Australian Artist.
Traditional is still the way to go! I dug around both sides of the family as far back as possble and used that route. Seemed to be fine!
We named our daughter Natalya, which people seem to have trouble with. It’s the Russian variation of Natalie. It’s a very popular name in Russia but not here. My name is Jessica and my husband is Michael, and we have the two most popular names for our birth years.
I actually love non traditional names. My daughter’s name is Lagan Aspen (Lagan is like Megan, but with an L). However, I grew up with a girl who’s brother was named Frap! lol Thats a little far in my book, hehe
