I’ve been taking at least one photo every day for the last year and a half, and I’ve tried very hard to vary my subject matter (apart from my kids), in order to ensure that my photoblog has a good variety of photos all the time.
However, it’s not always possible to get photos of different flowers, especially in winter. There’s one flower in particular that I’ve taken photos of on many occasions. It’s a daisy like flower, called Felicia, that is so easy to grow here in Gauteng, because it’s indigenous. It also flowers all year round, so it’s an ideal candidate for photos in the dead of winter!
It’s become a challenge for me to try and get photos of the flower from different angles to see how much the perspective can change.
One of the things that I love about this flower is it’s size. Because it’s so tiny, a macro shot of the flower isn’t very impressive.
Yet, as soon as you take a photo with a person in the frame, you can see the actual size of the flower.
It’s also quite easy to get under the plant, to take a photo looking up – by placing the camera on the ground and aiming in the right direction. And again, the perspective changes dramatically, and the flowers look like they’re towering above your head.
So here’s my challenge to you, find a common flower in your garden (or object around your house) and see whether you can change your perspective on the plant (or object) by taking photos from different angles.
