I have found that adding a simple border to my photos before sharing them on the Internet gives them a much more polished look.

The border draws the viewer’s eye to the photo, and lets it pop right off the page. Just as you thoughtfully frame a photo to hang on your wall, you should consider giving your photos a finished look on your blog.

I have seen several ways to go about adding a border, and today I’d like to share with you my simple method of creating borders in Photoshop Elements.

1. Once you are completely finished editing your photo, click on the “image” tab on your top toolbar. From that drop down, select “resize”, and then “canvas size” from the mini drop down, as shown in the following screen shot.

2. In the pop-up window, make sure the “relative” button is checked, change the width and height to 1 inch each, and finally click on the “canvas extension color” to get a drop down that will allow you to choose a color for your border, as seen in this screen shot.

3. TaDa… your photo is framed!
