It’s really not hard to take a good picture, but it is easy to take a bad picture. There are a few rules I make myself follow, to make sure I get a good shot, especially when photographing children.

#1 Ready for my close up, Mama
I focus on a feature and I make sure to fill the whole frame. In this picture, of my daughter, I wanted to focus on her beautiful eye and the way it was catching the sunlight from our French door.

#2 Snap the Stuff the Happens
Our lives are filled with moments to capture. I like to keep my camera close by so that I can capture these ordinary-extraordinary moments!

#3 Get Your Artsy-Fartsy On
Who says that great shots have to be of a smiling face? Some of my favorite things to take pictures of are the silhouettes and shadows of my children. It’s creative and interesting.

#4 Into the Looking Glass
There’s something special about a child seeing his or her reflection. Not only is there an innocence to it, there’s an element of curiousity and intrigue. In the picture above I caught my youngest making faces at himself, at bath-time, and now this picture stands out as an all time favorite.
