We have all been there. The perfect, most beautiful scene is in front of you. It’s a sunset… or maybe it’s George Clooney. You are a smart one and always have your camera nearby. You pull out the camera only to find that your battery is dead. Oh no! You lost your shot of George Clooney. Let’s make sure that never happens to you again. Follow these tips to extend the life of your camera battery.
Turn Off The LCD Screen Viewer
Most digital cameras have the option to turn off your LCD screen when using your camera. Without the LCD screen you will have to shoot old-school. And by old-school I mean you will have to look through viewfinder to take a photo.
Don’t Review Photos In Camera
With digital cameras and big card readers you can take as many photos as you like. Review and show-off your photos when you can upload them onto you computer.
Condition Your Battery
Most digital cameras today use Li-ion rechargeable batteries and one trick is to charge them and charge them often. Li-ion batteries work better if they are charged to full before they are completely drained. These batteries do best with partial charging countered with full discharge every 30 or so charges. Carry An Extra Battery
Not exactly a tip to extend the life of your battery, but you should always have an extra, charged battery in you camera bag!
If you keep all of these tips in mind, you will never miss another opportunity at a Clooney shot. You’ll extend the life of your battery and get the most out of your camera.
