As a photography enthusiast, I carry my camera EVERYWHERE.

As a mom, I have to carry all the gear required for a day out (diapers, wipes, snacks, my wallet, random things to keep the kids busy….. and maybe even a kid too).

Carrying a camera bag (big enough for an SLR), a bag for the kids, and a purse, I looked like a pack mule.  I found the bag to accomplish it all.

The Lowepro Slingshot

I love this bag!  It is big enough to carry my SLR, an external flash, two lenses, a large pack of wipes, a few diapers, a snack container, a few small toys, my wallet and other accessories.   This bag does triple duty.  I personally carry the Lowepro 200 (which is even a bit big for my current photography AND mom needs, but I hope to get more gear in the future).  Lowepro has a small 100 version and a larger 300 version as well for those that are REALLY dedicated photographers with lots of gear.

Reasons I love this bag:

• The way it works.  I LOVE the way that you NEVER have to take the bag off your back to access your camera.

  

  It spins around from your back to your front for access to the main pocket. Its intent is to be for photojournalists that need quick access to their gear.

  It works great for moms too.  The gear is on your back so that when you have to kneel down or chase a kid, the bag isn’t flopping by your side. It is secure on your back.  Then, you can swing it around to have access to whatever you need without having to take the entire bag off and place it on the ground.  That is a SCORE in my book.





• Its size.  Perfect for my back. Not too small that it feels puny and uncomfortable (like some small photo backpacks do), not too big that it seems overwhelming to carry.  I am able to fit everything I need to for a day in there.




• The pockets.  This bag has one main compartment and two smaller compartment for various gear. The large compartment will carry the lenses, camera, and flash.  The smaller compartment is good for a wallet and extra battery/charger.  The front pocket will carry a manual and extra memory.




• Its padded separators.  It keeps everything safe and organized.




• It also has a built in rain cover.

This bag is riddled with options.  If you are in the market for a camera bag, you like to carry your camera (and other things) on your back, but like to have quick access to  your camera when you are out and about, this is the bag for you.
