This may be the easiest photography “trick” out there — but one that you may not think of: take your camera with you as much as you can.

Take the camera even when you are “sure” you won’t find a thing to photograph. Simply: You’re Often Wrong.

You never know what you’ll find. Or what you’ll see that you might not have ordinarily.

Take this praying mantis, for instance.

I took the shot as my husband and I got back from the grocery store. The Mantis was hanging out on the garage door. I only got the shot because I’d taken the camera with me.

For the record, I didn’t take any photos at the store.

Here’s another example:

Granted, when I took this photo I was at a photography seminar. But my point is that I’ve seen reflections on cars SO MANY TIMES.

But, after training myself to look for stuff wherever I was, I finally saw what I thought was the subject of a good photo.
