How To Avoid “Pet Eye” In Photos

Do you love your animals almost as much as your children? You want that super special portrait of your pooch to be just right, but always struggle when you get that icky green “pet eye” – the animal equivalent of dreaded red eye. The worst part is that even though technology allows us to fix red eye on humans, pet eye – the greenish tint in the eyes of your pets – is still something hard to eliminate. This article will teach you how to get rid of “pet eye’ in the photos you take of your dogs/cats/pets.
The simple answer is use natural light!
- Go outside or go near an interior window where that sunshine is streaming in -
- Turn off your flash and go to town.
- Make sure your focus is on your dog’s eyes (their noses tend to be where your camera’s autofocus will take you).
- Grab a special toy or treat to get your pup’s attention and snap away for that flawless shot you’ve always wanted!

Awesome Job Michelle! Thanks for making my sweet Monty famous! Now I’ll have to give you the whole eating river rocks story which apparently got him published in Veterinary text books…and is when he made his initial entrance into fame!!!! Yes, he ate about 150 river rocks coated in bacon grease when he was about 6 months old. Had to have surgery, stay overnight at an emergency vet clinic. Fun stuff!
