Every summer my parents get their god-children and older grandchild together for a fun filled weekend at their home in Santa Barbara. This year they camped out on the beach and my Mom had a great game for the kids to play to help pass the time. It was a beach scavenger hunt.
Each team was given a list of things you commonly find on the beach, and a digital camera. The first team to bring back the checked off list and a photo of everything on it was the winner. The kids loved the game and as I flipped through the pictures I thought what a great photo challenge for adults!
A photo scavenger hunt can be anywhere:
- your house,
- backyard,
- an amusement park,
- really anywhere!
All you need is a few players with cameras, and a list. You could even play with people in other locations. You can email out a list and a deadline, set up a Flickr account for everyone to upload their photos and it’s “game on!”
This is a great way to think outside the box of what you normally photograph; a way to find beauty in everyday objects.
It also is a great way to see how other people photograph and could even teach you a thing or two!
