A little while back, on my blog, I took part in something called A Week in the Life. The task was to take pictures of daily life; pictures of the mundane, the routine, the daily ins-and-outs of life. Along with the pictures, I wrote words about the week, about all of our activities. I found the project at the blog of Ali Edwards. I love running into such creative people on the internet. That’s why I’m trickling this creativity to you!
Why I did it, and why you might want to try it:
- Remembrance: I will be able to look back on that week and see that life was full of little things that make up the big things.
- Posterity: Some day my children will be able look back on my blogging/photo journal experience. They will find this week of their lives and–hopefully–relish in the knowledge that they did some pretty neat stuff, on a weekly basis, as kids.
- Validation: That while time seems to mesh together, these common activities that we participate in are important. Daily activities make up what we do in life, and there’s definite importance in that!
- Gratitude: This project made me really grateful for everything in life. From the oatmeal, to the big road, to soccer, to school days at the kitchen table, to all of it; all too often we takes things for granted. This project really opened me up to feeling thankful for our everyday life.
Here are some highlights of my project:
Day 7
It was a great week; I’m glad I have pictures and words to prove it.
I urge you to try this in whatever capacity you can. And let me know when you do. I’d love to share in your Week in the Life!
