CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WINNER, ASHLEY B!

My husband got an iPhone a few months ago, which I “hijack” from time to time. When I got the opportunity to review the Pogo Stylus from Ten One Design for Photo Bliss, I jumped at the chance, because I have trouble using my fingers to navigate the iPhone.

Some information from the company’s Web site:

the stylus is for use with the iPhone 3G and iPod Touch. Also, “the [stylus's] tip’s high-tech material makes it unique in its ability to function with iPhone’s multi-touch display. The tip glides easily over the surface of the display, making it fun and easy to sketch, draw characters, and slide to unlock. Functioning like a fingertip, it moves quickly and easily through the touch interface. The screen’s glass surface is kept scratch- and smudge-free.”

In addition, the stylus comes with a clip so you can attach it to your phone.

So where’s the photo angle? The company suggests the stylus will work well with digital photography apps on the iPhone. Because I don’t have full custody of the phone — it’s not mine after all — I don’t have many apps on the phone. But I have added a couple of photography apps.

PhotoCalc is the first application I added. PhotoCalc isn’t for editing photos, but for determining equivalent exposures, among other things. I also added Magic Touch, which one blogger referred to as “PhotoShop for your iPhone.” (You can clone, smudge, etc., with this app.)

The stylus made it easier to see what I was doing, especially for Magic Touch — one’s fingers being in the way make “fine adjustments” when editing photos difficult. The stylus is lightweight, which is helpful, especially when using the phone for long periods of time. One downside for me is that the clip that attaches to the phone doesn’t fit OUR phone, because of the “skin” we’ve added to it.

Will the Pogo Stylus revolutionize the way I use this phone? No. Will it be helpful for photo and other applications? Yes. I’m glad I had the chance to try it out.
