I don’t know about you, but I consider the above photograph a GIFT. A present given to me in so many ways. A few years ago, I would have been so carried away with other life things, that I would have NEVER noticed that tiny little fir needle nestled among the morning frost.
I wouldn’t have seen how the sun set the crystals to sparkling, enhancing the grain of our wooden deck. I would have walked on past the amazing little ice formations appearing to grow right out of the surface of the leaves.

The way the frost makes the buds of our Rhododendron look like they are covered in sweet sugar would have been ignored.

The teeny tiny, yet nearly pre-historic columns of ice growing towards the sky off of the stovepipe lid of our smoker would not have been discovered.

Or insisted that I take a closer look.

Photography has done this to me. It has awakened my awareness of my beautiful surroundings, and I simply consider this a blessing.
The gift of slowing down…….observing……and looking for the beauty in the simple things.
A macro lens has given me the ability to see things in a way I never dreamed.

As I go about my life, I find that with or without my camera in hand, I’m enjoying it more.
I appreciate it more.

I acknowledge it more. I often feel that instead of living on this glorious planet, I am actually living IN it.

It is a part of me….and I am a part of it.

Photography has given me the WORLD!

gorgeous – thanks for sharing!
Beautiful Corey, I love the 7th one down.
I think a macro lens is something I am going to have to get. It would be a lot of fun to try and capture what you have. You are so right about photography…what we shoot may not mean much to another, but it sure brings us closer to our own world.
As I have told you many times Corey, you are so talented! I always enjoy looking at all the photos you take
Well done!
These photographs are breathtaking, Corey, I ADORE them. And the message is simply beautiful and wonderful.
A couple of nights ago, we had the most gorgeous full moon. It was surrounded by the largest and most perfect halo that I’ve ever seen. My first thought was “Wow! I bet Corey could really capture that!”
That’s what your photography has given me.
wow! these are gorgeous photos! one day i will upgrade to a dslr with a macro lens…i look forward to the day!!
These are astonishing. I’m so impressed and amazed.
What a fantastic, awe-inspiring post. Beautiful. And your macro shots are incredible. Well done, Corey. I loved it.
I agree with you 1000%. Now that I have started getting into photography, when I leave the house I will take my camera, but forget a coat! When I ride in the car with others, I have this huge urge to just be like “pull over right now…I need to photograph the sky…or that tree,” but I’ve noticed a ton of people don’t understand photographers. They are like “what are you doing….why would you get your pants all dirty to take that picture?”
I think everyone should take up photography because you definitely start to see the true beauty in the world and the smallest things light up your day.
I love your ice crystal pictures, they are so delicate looking….
Absolutely gorgeous!
I couldn’t agree any more! I am so grateful that I see so many things I never saw before!
I mentioned to the I <3 Faces girls, at Blissdom, that YOU were a constant inspiration to me and that YOU are my favorite photographer. This post shows why!
Oh Corey, what a beautiful post! YES indeed, photography has given me the gift of living life more fully too! (and I’ll live it even more fully once I get my hands on a macro lens. HA!)
Well, Corey, your photos and words inspired me to head out and take a few photos of my own this morning. So thanks!

Corey,
I totally agree with your post. Getting behind the lens has given me a greater appreciation for the world around me too. I am so thankful for that.
