If you’re thinking about taking the kids to SeaWorld this year, the new Discovery Cove exhibit in Orlando is absolutely fantastic! SeaWorld has really taken the time to understand the desires of its guests and the design of Discovery Cove allows people of all ages to experience life under the sea.
I know in my family, a few of my guys are ready to jump right in and experience the world way down below the surface of the water, while the others are a bit more reserved and cautious. Amazingly they can all be involved within their comfort zone because The Grand Reef exhibit was designed with varying levels to accommodate a variety of guests!
The sandy shores are shallow enough for the kids, and there are lots of bridges and overlooks for a birds-eye-view if guests prefer not to get their feet wet. Some visitors choose to swim deeper in, and they can explore canyons and crevices in the artificial coral reefs where more fish congregate as well as the larger rays.
So basically, my boys can interact however they like, but true adventure seekers like me won’t be satisfied until they can swim alongside the rays and beautiful fish. And with 125 different species of rays, sharks, and fish, and over 10,000 inhabitants, it just feels magical.
What I loved most about Discovery Cove was SeaWorld’s ability to target the wow factor, and then to make it available to guests. If you’ve ever caught yourself wishing and dreaming to swim alongside the dolphins or experience the underwater flight of the rays, I can tell you from experience it is beyond cool, and it can be reality.
