We live green as much as possible. We are involved in initiative for building passive and very-low energy houses, we are buying only ecological toys, we use ecover detergents, we are vegetarians, we use only organic medicine…

We recycle as much as possible, use canvas grocery bags. I try to re-purpose things or recycle them into craft projects. Before building my first garden this past summer, I started composting. With the weather turning colder, my worms now live in a bucket in the basement.

We’re taking small, but steady steps to become greener. We use cloth diapers on our two youngest. I recently started using baking soda and vinegar rinses instead of shampoo. As soon as I have the time, I want to make some unpaper towels for our kitchen.

I’ve gone to using the reusable shopping bags. I always feel very proud of myself when I use them. We, of course, recycle. Recently I’ve purchased a stainless steel water bottle to cut out on the plastic water bottles.

I’m not sure if the other post will count since I commented there first, but I thought I should come to the original post, just in case. We recycle everything we can, use old t-shirts as rags, donate any clothes or items that we have outgrown and we have changed our lights to the cfl’s.

Like many others our family uses reuseable bags. I make our household cleaners, we use cloth napkins and dishtowels instead of paper napkins and paper towels. I’ve switched to green clothing detergent no more itching in this household! We are also quite good at recycling and composting and our garden which keeps us in tomatoes at least throughout the winter.

I love these toys and as our son is getting a lovely wooden play kitchen for Chirstmas, this would be a great addition to it.

We’ve been trying a few different things. We do mostly hand-made gifts; I make our laundry soap, dishwasher soap, yogurt, bread, and granola; my husband bikes, busses, or runs to work; we use reusable bags. This is such a cute toy! My daughter just started pretending at tea parties the other day, she’d love this!

We are in the process of changing all our light bulbs, use a programmable thermostat and I’ve gotten into a good habit of taking reusable bags. I LOVE these toys!

We are always looking for ways to use what we have, make less waste, and use less overall. Instead of buying more, we try to be creative with what we already have.

This means being creative with leftovers, looking with a creative eye at decor, using basic cleaners like baking soda and vinegar rather. Less stuff, less buying, more using what we have, more creativity.

we just shopped using our reusable grocery bags. we’ve been trying to reuse any plastic bags we have to buy (bread bags, etc) so no more ziploc, etc. for us if we can help it.

I really try to do my part in being green. I have used reusable shopping bags for about 12 years now, even before it was “cool” to do so. We compost any vegetable matter we accumulate, recycle every tiny scrap of paper, and make our own cleaners out of common household ingredients like vinegar and baking soda, using refillable bottles to hold them.

Hi Lena, you GO girl (go green that is)! I am using my
reusable bags everywhere! Just finished a shopping trip
this morning and used 4. I have been recycling for a long
time now. And I buy ALOT of my own things at thrift stores
and yard sales throughout the year. I’ve done that for years also. And now I shop that way for my granddaughter and she loves to go with me to yard sales in the summer. I have gotten many many clothes and toys for her that way.

That is so cute!

We have made small steps, but good ones I believe

We bring our own bags to the store
We all have our own water bottles that we fill up from home to take with us.
We use cloth napkins instead of paper ones
We use storage containers instead of baggies for lunch goodies and storing food.
We use new light blulbs
We recycle more
We use greencleaners. (Still trying one that will get ride of the rust stains.)

Too cute! My niece would love this for Christmas! We’ve been going greener by working to eliminate all those icky chemicals. Buying different shampoos without those sulfates and parabens, dishsoap without petroleum and phosphates. Using glass if we use the microwave. Buying local meat.

We also use energy-saving CFLs (which we’re exceptionally careful with because of the mercury). We also wash almost everything on cold and keep our thermostat turned low in the winter and high in the summer. These are just some of the little things that we do.

My greener life is… I got toys for my two youngest daughters.. and they are all wooden, nothing plastic or toxic.. I love them.

I also only use Shaklee cleaning products, I do not buy any thing that is over the counter.. and toxic!
