7 Back-to-School Organization Ideas

Each year after the 4th of July we begin to see back-to-school supplies hit the shelves and sales galore. There’s something about a box of crayons for a quarter that gets me to the store each week! {Surely, I’m not alone.} But, with back-to-school season arriving, the daunting task of keeping all of the important paperwork, homework and artwork organized. Not to mention the need for a family calendar so that everyone makes it to their extra-curricular activities on time.

Today I’ve found 7 Back-to-School Organization Ideas that are sure to put you at the head of the class!

Back to School organization - Create a Command Central Station for everyone

Command Central – Never lose another permission slip or homework assignment with this command central station for schoolwork. Each day when your child comes home from school he/she can place his/her papers in the cubby. At the end of the week, go through it all and toss what is no longer needed.

Back to School organization - Notebook paper canvas tote bag

Notebook Paper Canvas Tote – This bag is the perfect accessory for taking to the library and toting home books. Leave books that belong to the library in {or near} the bag so that you aren’t searching for them on the due date.

Back to School organization - Monogrammed zipper pouch pencil holder

Monogrammed Zipper Bags – Such cute bags to hold pencils, crayons, markers, or any school supplies that you don’t want scattered at the bottom of your backpack.

Back to School organization - School paperwork and artwork file box

School Paperwork and Artwork Box – With five children of my own all still in school, this is going to be one of the very first organization tasks for my family’s school year. This way, all schoolwork and artwork for each child can be filed in one place and not accidentally tossed in the garbage or piled in a corner.

Back to School organization - Wood crate homework station

Wood Crate Homework Station – What if each child had a homework crate of his/her own? I’m guessing there would be no more, “she took my crayon!”

Back to School organization - Organized daily outfits

Daily Organized Outfit – Every school year without fail, my husband tells me that I should have the kids lay their clothes for the next day. That way, the next morning there’s no searching for the match to that pesky single sock or for a clean pair of undies. This idea is genius, really. And too simple. Can you imagine the time {and stress!} you’ll save each morning?

Back to School organization - Family organization with vintage chalkboard

Vintage Chalkboard Family Organization Center – I won’t begin to tell you how long I’ve searched for a vintage chalkboard like this…for this exact purpose. I will say that, if Katherine can find one on Craigslist for twenty bucks then I won’t give up! How perfect is this family organization center? Everything in one place!

All of these ideas are GREAT, so long as you put them to good  use. Which is your favorite? Which are you FOR SURE going to implement in your home. Start now, before school starts, so that it’s a way of life for your kids in a few weeks.
