Tip- Check your local thrift/ consignment stores often, you never know what you may find.
During one of my trips to a thrift store I came across these Queen Ann chairs- cost $10. I knew with some cleaning, new seat fabric and paint they would be great.
Tip- when buying old chairs, you get your best buy if the chair is sturdy…..if they “wobble” I walk away…..I don’t have the skills to fix a wobbly chair.
Steps to a new chair-
- Wash
- Remove old seat- chairs like these usually have just four screws on the bottom of the seat, remove them and the seat comes off. Less than a yard of fabric stapled to the seat cushion will give you a totally new look.
- Before I but the new seat back on I sprayed on a primer sealer. Bull’s eye is a good brand to use.
- After I primed the chair I painted on a fun teal color.
This is how the chair looked before I sanded the edges a little.
I love what a little sanding can do to bring out the character of the chair.
I had a little piece of fabric and some paint left over from other projects….. so, this project cost me $10.
What have you found at a thrift store, that you turned into a treasure?
