Step into Ellen’s kitchen with me. Come to enjoy the architectural details! I heard it said once that architectural details are like interesting people – never showy, slow to reveal themselves and full of surprises. That describes this kitchen to a “T”. Along with fabulous mill-work, the rooms centerpiece “the island” and its dark granite top, set the stage for a classic clean kitchen. {notice the thickness of the island counter top is the same profile as the molding on the cabinets} Details!
Here are the 6 things to love about this kitchen-
- Pretty Mill work & display cubbies- The rooms highest level of detail is placed highest; crown molding stacks. Having a “cubby” gives a resting place for the eye.
- Cabinet Height & Depth- is key to a furniture look.
- Island- Add an island- stools at one end of this island offer casual seating space, while a near by table encourages sit-down family dinners.
4. Cooking Niche- The range wall evolves around a mantel-style hood and sumptuous granite counter tops. With artistic tile elements- plus a safe and practical way to fill pots with a pot-filler faucet.
5. Mantel Hoods- don’t have to be tall or elaborate, here the high to the ceiling mill-work heightens the impact of the Hood.
6. Layout for looking out- everywhere you turn in this kitchen are fabulous windows to look out, and that bring in great light.
Ellen’s kitchen is fabulous, not just because of the great kitchen elements which are impressive but for the spirit she brings to it. Remember you are the heart , if you invest your time, thought and spirit to assemble a room, it will truly be impressive because of what you bring to it.
Happy Day.

Only 6 things? Man, I love everything about this kitchen!
absolutely love it!! especially the stove area, and the island, and well, everything!!
I love her kitchen. Is the real wood hard to manage on kitchen floors? Love it!
Now if only we could take those ideas and do magic on my kitchen
So many parts of this kitchen are my dream kitchen. The stove faucet, the beautiful blue in the granite, all the drawers for storage, the windows . . . I love that this kitchen is made to live in. We spend so much time cooking, it makes such a difference to have a kitchen where you can hang out and cook at that same time. It’s a beautiful space.
Well now. That was fun!
Beautiful. Can you just move that kitchen to my house? Or can I move there?
my goodness that is some kitchen! I love the pot-filler faucet, and all the lower cabinet drawers (vs. cupboards). What a beautiful place to cook!
I am pretty much drooling over this kitchen! I love the colors, I love the cabinets, I love the island! I think an island is a great thing to have. Alot of things happen around the kitchen so it’s a great gathering spot for the family!

The best part of this kitchen is the woman who cooks there!! She is one amazing sister and she deserved the whole remodel.
Simply gorgeous. I love the white moulding and the contrast in colors. The granite is beautiful. Wow.
I’ve been in that kitchen before, even learned how to make caramel fudge brownies in that kitchen, but it definitely didn’t look like that then! I LOVE the remodel. I’ve actually heard a lot about it, but haven’t seen it in real life. Thank you for sharing it with us online.
What a gorgeous kitchen! I love it. And I can see she is a woman after my own heart…lots of drawers! I love that. So many wonderful details, what a joy it must be to spend time there!!
Thanks for sharing it with us!
For those of us that know the owner of this kitchen, know, that the most beautiful part of this unbelievable kitchen is the generous woman that shares her beauty with so many of us,
Thank you Ellen…
Truly a model kitchen for a model lady. I agree with all of the above.
Love you Ellen,
Ila
