The house was built 10 years ago and originally decorated with dark colors and heavy fabrics.
The new home owners wanted brighter and lighter.
We started by painting the majority of the home’s wall a soft yellow. We chose lighter fabrics with a brighter color palette–yellow, orange, red, brick with accents of blue and moss green.
Once the wall color was changed and the new fabrics were in the room, the mural above the fireplace in the great room looked dark and a bit dreary:

Against the lighter and brighter re-designed decor, the mural felt very “Wuthering Heights”. The home owners were looking for something a little more cheerful.
A local artist came to the mural rescue. She lightened and brightened the mural above the fireplace to reflect the room’s happier vibe:

It is beautiful.
The art remains, but feels warmer.
The mural now fits perfectly in this cozy family room.

That looks AMAZING!
Well done! I like the fact that you brought new life to it instead of covering up the mural. The color in the trees was just what the mural needed.
