With a twist of a vintage European door ringer you gain entrance to the home of a fabulous “unfit” kitchen. I use the term “unfit” very loosely here. The term unfit only means that everything in this kitchen came from salvage, items re-claimed, or found. This is not a cookie cutter kitchen, it has evolved over time.
It could totally stand it’s ground next to a Grand expensive designer show room kitchen. { I know because I think I looked at about every nook and cranny this kitchen has to offer.}
It’s a perfect kitchen for Christmas, with the touches of vintage Christmas everywhere. The red side pantries, the star hanging over the stove, candles tucked here and there and a sweet Vintage Santa by the copper hand distressed sink.
With all the age and character that only salvage items can give….this kitchen is awash in history and a welcoming Christmas spirit. Take a look at this Kitchen and you will see what I mean-
What I love about this kitchen-
- Stove back splash- from a wood/coal burning stove.
- 100+ year old floors, re-milled antique timbers. {from marc@crossroadslumber North Fork Ca.}
- Kitchen beam- 100 years old, from Pennsylvania
- Corbels- 100 year old Victorian, flea market find.
- Black picker table.
- Cabinet, from a 1907 craftsman home- saved just before the house was torn down.
- Copper Hood- found in the weeds, purchased for $5- at a barn sale.
- A counter top fashioned from bowling alley lanes- that were from Berkeley Ca.

More than anything else- this kitchen inspires me; just look at what you can do when you put your heart in it. Plus it goes to show you, that you don’t need to spend a years’ salary or more to get a great looking kitchen.
Inspired to try it? I say, yes.
Merry Christmas
