In “Art for the Home Decor: You Can do it Yourself, Part 1″, I taught you all the steps and supplies needed to create fantastic art like this for your home.

Now, I have some REALLY helpful tips to make the project easier than ever…
Things to remember with this project:
**IDENTIFY a place in your home where you need something
special, maybe something large but it can be small as well. In fact,
starting small (maybe for a gift) is a great way to get in to this project.
** CANVAS Go to the craft store (hopefully with a 50% off
coupon in hand and purchase your canvas. I love the square shapes but of
course it can be any size.
**think COLOR..What color do you want to bring into the
room? Remember it doesn’t have to match! I use basic little acrylic paints..but
I do mix a lot of custom color (add black or white usually)…remember if you
mix you own color..make enough!
**remember PAPER…scrapbooking may make you break out in
hives but admit it, they have AMAZING PAPER now..it is so beautiful, I honestly
don’t know how some scrappers even cut into these lovely papers..Luckily, with
this project you don’t have to… I love the wonderful damask prints out right
now and all of the fab shabby lines…
You can find something for your
children’s room (I recently found a paper that looked just like a $100 print
from Land of Nod! www.twopeasinabucket.com has a
great selection and even Target has scrapbook papers now!
**if you dont want a big piece, think SERIES..you could buy
4-6 small square canvas and do a different paper or fabric on each one..imagine
a pretty blue/brown color scheme or whatever you have in mind.
**STICKY..I recommended MATTE finish Mod Podge..put it both
under and over your paper or fabric..if you are using stiff paper, as in a collage,
you will need to buy a little tube of super glue type product to get all of the
edges down. I had to do this with the bookcovers.
**Don’t forget the SIDES, don’t want them to look messy or bare..I striped these..
**PERFECTION..perfection is not allowed, so just let it go!..Perfection is for mass produced prints with no
character..Instead, this will be special because it is made by you and reflects
your style and taste.
