I had an ugly mismatched oak door in my kitchen. Everyday I would look at it and frown about how hideous it was. I intended to paint it with chalkboard paint, but this spring I finally got around to it! Better late than never, but I wish I had painted it sooner!
Not only did the chalkboard paint make an instant improvement to the appearance of the door, but it has ended up being one of the hubs of our family fun. My kids sketch pictures on it nearly every day. We write birthday messages and love notes and “I’ll miss you” when we travel. My older kids’ friends have spent late nights laughing, all gathered around the door, creating elaborate drawings together. Everyday is something new!
Who knew we could create so many family memories by painting a door?

I suddenly find myself wishing I didn’t live in a brand new house with perfectly matching doors.
That looks like so much fun!
very cute!
My husband recently painted my teenage daughter’s door black while she was away at camp and put a Batman logo on it since he says she is in her “bat cave” so often. Luckily, she loves it! I was skeptical, but I figure paint is fairly inexpensive and you’re only a teenager once. I wish we’d thought to use chalkboard paint, however, since I could have used it in this fun way also!
What an awesome idea!
My hubby just made a large chalkboard for our kitchen, it LOOKS GREAT, will post pics onto my blog soon! : )
