This week our local library and local quilt guild are getting together to host a Quilt Show. Each year the library is transformed into a beautiful gallery for these spectacular works of art. This has me thinking about how to use the quilts we own to spruce up and change the look in our home for the upcoming change of season.
Decorate Kid’s Rooms with Quilts
The first photo above is my daughters bed. The quilt is one that I purchased from a local resale shop because I loved the fabric colors and the fact that it already had that “broken in” feeling. I wasn’t going to be worried if it became stained because it’s already seen it’s best days.
On the other hand, this pink quilt was made by a very dear friend for my daughter before she was born. While I do let her play with it, I am very careful that she doesn’t have food around it. The beautiful label on the back states clearly who made the quilt and will remind my family in the future of very special relationships shared.
These are just a few of the quilts residing in my home right now. I haven’t yet found just the perfect case to be able to display them all together in my home. Someday soon, I’m hoping.
In the mean time, take a look at The Painted Quilt. Kaaren shares some fantastic ideas as to how to decorate with quilts in your home and shares free sample patterns as well if you want to try your own hand at quilting.
