I love to decorate. But with the economy being the way it is, sometimes it’s hard to justify going to a decorating store and picking up a few new things.
You don’t have to spend a ton to make your room look like you spent a ton of money on it. My favorite places to go find pieces of furniture or decor are second hand stores, and garage sales.
Some things to look out for when shopping second hand stores and garage sales:
*china to hang on walls
*glass containers to display potpourri, cranberries, eggs, decor marbles…etc.
*anything wood can be painted and distressed and used in your home (i.e. furniture, boxes, plaques.)
*metal pieces that can be spray painted any color you like (i.e. candle stick holders, chandeliers, metal baskets)
You don’t have to buy at a department store to get the look you want. I rarely do!

Great suggestions! I’m all about repurposing, or “reinventing” garage sale and thrift store finds for home decor. It’s so fun to make treasures out of trash!
Yes, we all love decorating on a dime.
I am learning how to do this better and involve the kids with fun crafts. We can’t wait until the garage sales start around here and we can make some great discoveries!
