Even though most of us consider our hallways a way to get from one room to another, they are as important and should be as well decorated as any other room in our homes. Some ways to make them a more important and prettier places to be are:
Consider changing and updating the lighting. A new but inexpensive chandelier or light fixture can take it from blah to wow!

A stencil or free-handed design gives an unexpected visual especially if there is no crown molding to add an element of interest.

Don’t be afraid to add an extra mirror to reflect light and make the hall look larger and brighter.
If you have the means and the funds, consider installing a solar tube or regular sky light for natural lighting during the day. This also means you can keep the doors on those not so clean rooms shut and still have light.

Or hang a piece of art and treat that hallway ceiling like a 5th wall . It will give a fabulous element of surprise to those that happen to gaze upwards.
