Last week I told you that I’m hooked on houses. I spend a lot of time surfing the online house listings, and now and then I come across rooms that make me stop and do a double-take.
Take this house, for example, on the market for a reasonable $155,000. It offers original woodwork and
hardwood floors, charming arched doorways, and an updated kitchen.
But all I could think about when I saw the interior photos was that
size matters when you’re decorating your home. Proportion and scale are important in a room. Take a look and you’ll see what I mean!
Here we have a table and light fixture that are so small they get lost in this large dining room:
In the living room, the artwork is too big to be hung over the clock like that, and the rug is too small to float in the center of the floor:
On the other side of the room, the TV cabinet is way too wide for the wall:
Even the bedroom has a problem with size–the comforter is too small!
All this home needs is a little “redesign” to bring everything into balance and it would show so much better, don’t you think? What would you change first?

I think this is so true~!
What a charming house; I cannot even believe that people that own that house own that TV monstrosity. Just a bit of tweaking and that house would show fabulously.
