Christmas has come and gone, and the New Year is upon us. Many of us have probably put all our Holiday decorations away…boxed up and hidden once more under the stairs- {at least that’s where I use to keep them.} but you may want to re-think where you store them.
I have a secret room hidden beneath the stairs that only children dare enter — called the “Bubble Room.”
When the door is closed, all those that past by will surely think there’s nothing fun behind it…it’s just a coat closet. But open the door and the party begins.

Many of us have those hidden spaces in our homes — why not turn them into something fun?

- With very little money and not a whole lot of time
- an assortment of left over paint
- a large plate for the “circle” template
- painters tape and a little child like imagination.
You can turn a boring space into something magical!

It’s tradition when the Grandchildren visit, that they mark their height on this wall. It’s always a blast to see how much they have grown, and the reactions on their faces.

“Grown-ups never understand anything for themselves, and it is tiresome for children to be always and forever explaining things to them.”
- Saint-Exupery, The Little Prince- 1943
Maybe you have a secret space that can become something wonderful to a little child – their very own “Bubble Room.”

What a GREAT idea, Teresa! I am so inspired. Wow. What a creative use for that space.
Great article. It is a wonderful thing that this world is blessed with people such as you who are so creative. It makes it possible for the rest of us to benefit from your ideas. thanks.
I love this! Reminds me of when I tried making my own bedroom in the tiny cubby under the stairs when I was 5 or 6. Every child should have a bubble room!
I love the bubble room! We just turned my son’s closet into a fun little place to read. I added a bean bag chair and some christmas lights to the ceiling. I think it’s really cute, but I think he would prefer to have a bubble room like this!
I wish I fit in the bubble room! My children love it in there, too.
