Decorating your home does not have to be hard or expensive. Using everyday items – like leftover fabric, wrapping paper, etc. – can be used to make a statement in any room. Here are a couple of little tips and tricks I would like to share to make your decorating “easy peasy”!
Art – Ever wonder what to do with that leftover fabric or wrapping paper? Why not play around with the patterns and sizes and make a great wall hanging for any room. Buy a simple frame and use cardboard or posterboard to position your pieces.. Glue or use double sided tape and volia! Perfect contemporary art for any space.
Another cool way to create great graphic punch to your walls is to use pretty scrapbooking paper. Use foam board as backing, cut to size. Using double-sided tape apply the scrapbook paper. Now you can make a fancy grid for your wall using different designs, or just brighten a dark corner with a little color. I love this bright design!
DIY Votives – A great way to add ambiance to a room is to turn a plain glass votive or vase into something beautiful! Using a light fabric, cut to size and use adhesive spray to attach fabric to glass. Now the candlelight will play through the design – lovely!
One more really cute way to add a bit of “flavor” to your space is to use clear glass votives or small bowls, add a few coffee beans (smells so delish) and a tea light, candle stick, or votive.. I have also seen the small oil-lamp tea lights used which adds a beautiful glow without worrying about it burning out before your dinner party, etc. is over.
I hope these tips and tricks will come in handy! Just remember, being creative means trial and error will occur.. If it doesn’t turn out right the first time, don’t worry! Just try again. You are probably a lot more “crafty” than you think!
