I have already decided that there are a few things I would do differently next time.
- The mounds are not a very effective way to water or weed. I think I am going to plant in a more biointensive way next time. Stay tuned for a post on Biointensive Gardening in the near future!
- I would definitely take the suggestion to plant the corn a couple of weeks before every thing else to give it a head start and let it get nice and tall before the beans start climbing it.
- I will definitely start this garden in the spring next year!
Marigold keeps harmrul insects away while buckwheat attracts beneficial insects.
And some things I will definitely keep the same
- Planting what works for our family.
- Companion planting beneficial plants that attract beneficial insects like bees and keep away nasty insects like aphids.
- Including my boys in the process. Kids love gardening!
We are still mostly waiting to see if our grand experiment is going to turn out well. Look for updates in the future as our garden grows and we start harvesting!
