Forty years after the first Earth Day, the world is in greater peril than ever. While climate change is the greatest challenge of our time, it also presents the greatest opportunity – an unprecedented opportunity to build a healthy, prosperous, clean energy economy now and for the future.
Earth Day 2010 can be a turning point to advance climate policy, energy efficiency, renewable energy and green jobs. Earth Day Network is galvanizing millions who make personal commitments to sustainability. Earth Day 2010 is a pivotal opportunity for individuals, corporations and governments to join together and create a global green economy. Join the more than one billion people in 190 countries that are taking action for Earth Day.
One example is Climate Mama. Climate Mama is a United States based climate change education and advocacy website and blog, targeted at Mama’s and Papa’s of all ages who want to learn more about climate change. Climate Change so often seems too big to get our hands around. We wonder where we can start and how we can actually make a difference. Each one of us has a different path that we will follow. Some of us cut a wider swath than others, but each of us has a role to play.
Every month Climate Mama introduces their readers to some amazing individuals, Climate Mamas and Papas who are making a difference, who are, through their daily lives, affecting the lives of all of us.
Also, Climate Mama serves as a Pledge Driver for the Energy Star “Change the World” Campaign. They hope to introduce their audience to ways and opportunities to reduce their energy use and to learn how to lead more environmentally sustainable lives. Climate Mama also helps identify and recognize those businesses and organizations that are trying to make a difference by lowering their carbon footprint and their negative impact on the environment.
