Book Recycling…a Fun, Economical, and Eco-friendly Alternative to Bookstores and Libraries

My daughter’s Kindergarten class has a lovely tradition that’s passed down year-to-year by parent volunteers: book recycling. Children bring in books from home they are willing to give up; in exchange they are allowed to take a “new” one home.
Our school does this a few times per year on specific days; I’ve heard of others that have a continuously rotating pool of books. It’s a wonderful way to spice up your children’s personal book collection without spending a dime.
If your community hasn’t implemented such a program, why not consider starting one yourself?
