There are many ways to be “green” with your laundry. Some are more practical than others. I have made my own laundry detergent (low on the practicality scale), purchased eco-friendly detergents (practical but can be pricey), and switched to white vinegar as a fabric softener (very practical).
Now, what if I told you that with one product you wouldn’t have to buy detergent OR fabric softener for at least six months? What if that one product was environmentally friendly, reusable and easy on your budget? Let me introduce you to Robby Wash!
What is Robby Wash?
The Robby Wash laundry washing ball uses a unique and patented worldwide technology to clean your laundry.
“Activated macromolecules are gradually released through the wash, dissolving dried-in stains by generating ions which activate the water molecules. This increase in the pH enables the activated molecules to penetrate deep into the fabrics and attach themselves to the stains. As the motion of the drum agitates the clothes, the stains come away easily from the fabric and dissolve in the water.”
This makes it an effective product that has tested better than powder laundry detergents!
The Robby Wash laundry ball is designed to be used in both cold and hot water. It does not require any additional detergent to clean clothes or odor removal detergents to get your laundry smelling fresh. Robby Wash works with both front load and top load washing machines.
How is Robby Wash “Green”?
From the distributor’s website:
- Ultra high efficiency laundry solution – no need to add any laundry detergent
- Hypoallergenic and great choice as a baby laundry detergent cleaner
- Does not pollute the environment like standard laundry detergents
- Easy to refill so you do not need to throw away the ball
- RoHS lead free directive certified
- No phosphates or chlorine
The website also states that it is, “safe to use with bleach however we recommend using our included stain stick for stain removal or a salt cleaner as this will not damage the fibers in your laundry like bleach can.”
I’ve been using the Robby Wash laundry ball for about two months and I am quite impressed with it. It really does clean our clothes and they feel as soft as they did when I was using white vinegar as fabric softener. There is no strong odor and the included stain stick has worked as well as other stain remover products on spots and stains.
The Cost Analysis of Robby Wash vs. Other Laundry Detergents
The packaging indicates that a washing ball should last up to twelve months, however, that was if you washed one load of laundry every three days. If you’re anything like me, you do way more laundry that that! I estimate that my ball will last about 6 months, possibly a bit longer. But even so, that is a savings as compared to other eco-friendly laundry detergents.
One Robby Wash ball is $32.95 + shipping (~$7 for UPS Ground) = ~$40
Compared to, for example, Seventh Generation Natural Laundry Detergent Powder (18 loads) which is $8.49 + shipping on Amazon.com. Assuming 18 loads would last you one month, a six month supply would be $50.94 + shipping.
PLUS, you don’t need to use fabric softener (regular or white vinegar). You don’t have to lug home heavy boxes or jugs of detergent. There’s nothing that will spill. It’s simple, put your clothes in your washer, select your load size and water temperature and toss in the ball! Need more convincing? Here are the top 11 reasons Robby Wash is a great for your laundry, your family and the environment!
