Today’s tips are all about easy ways to help your kids go green.
1. Have them help you set up a recycling center in your home.
2. Games like Recycle City are fun for kids and help teach them about going green. For older kids there is ElectroCity.
3. Even Nickelodeon is jumping on board with The Big Green Help, a fun site to help teach kids about the environment.
4. Kid’s bodies are more sensitive so whenever you can, choose organic and natural body care items.
5. There are lots of organic healthy foods out there geared to kids. When your kids really want a box of mac & cheese, choose a brand like Annie’s which even comes in cool shapes but without all the icky stuff like dyes.
6. Choose BPA-free options for your kids to drink out of. You can get glass baby bottles, BPA-free sippy cups, and kid sized stainless steel water bottles for when your kids are older.
7. When packing your kids lunch go waste free. You can even buy cute kits from Kids Konserve.
8. Try and choose non-toxic toys for your children, this is very important when they are young and putting everything in their mouth.
9. Read books about being green to your children. “It’s Earth Day!” By Mercer Mayer is a great choice.
10. Most of all show your children how to live green by living green yourself. Be sure to tell them why you make the choices you make so they will know how to make the right choices as well.

What a great idea for a post! My kids love Mercer Mayer books so I will definitely have to check out this one. Before my kids throw something away they ask me, “recycling, compost or garbage.” It makes me smile that they know those words. Annie’s has a own line of kid oriented foods including yummy bunny crackers (yes, I have tried them out myself). Thanks for the great tips!
