Turn a Vintage bathroom from this:
To this…. in just one day.
This look was pulled together with a mix of items I had on hand & a few new items, which helped with the budget.
How it came together-
Inspiration piece- The chair- I love the botanical feel of the chair….that became the jumping off point for the room.
Paint fix- to continue the light and airy feel, the walls and cabinets were painted a creamy white.
Art- was free…using frames I had on hand and art prints from an old garden botanical book.
The prints were hung at the same height all the way around the room.{I picked the prints that had a little bit of red in them, again picking up a little color from the chair.} Great old books are wonderful for art. Check your local thrift store, you never know what you may find back in the book corner.
Updated storage- by removing the lower cabinets, it enabled me to add a little texture, and still retain some storage.
Add Layers- Curtains hung high add another layer, and soften the room.
Use what you have and love- My goal was to make this room useful and stylish. My only decorating rule was to use what I loved. Where less-is more approach.
No walls were hurt- it was not in the budget to take out tile or rework the floor plan. But using what I had and a great inspiration chair, we now have a bathroom we can love.

Beautiful! That chair is great and such a nice addition to a bathroom.
When I saw the before picture, I actually fell in love with the tile work. So glad you made it work. It looks awesome!
Thanks ladies for your sweet comments.

I don’t have a blog. but I wanted to leave a comment. Your bathroom turned out great…seems to be more relaxing. I’m impressed…on a budget and a time constraint. Two thumbs up!
Teresa, I love your makeover. May I ask where you got the chair? I’ve seen it somewhere before. It’s a real statement in your bathroom.
Now that is gorgeous!!! Very spa like…relaxing!
It almost looked dingy with the cabinets….now it looks like a super high end makeover! Great job!
This is an amazing makeover! I have to go back and look again, beautiful.

The chair came from Pier One.
Thanks everyone for your sweet comments.
Happy Day
The before reminds me so much of my grandparent’s bathroom~which I really liked anyway. But your after is awesome! Your bathroom has so much charm.
I have this same style of bathroom in my house, 2 of them to be exact, in my old farmhouse. I love the tile, and actually wanted to find some ways of making it work. I love that you took the cupboard doors off, and put in baskets.
It’s great!
Now that’s inspirational! Your bathroom makeover looks fabulous!
Gorgeous! I can’t believe how beautiful it is. At the before all you can see is “wow, that’s alot of green” and then at the after you just gasp! It’s so airy and charming. Thanks for showing that a bathroom improvement doesn’t have to set you back $30k or more!!!
What a beautiful job you did! Saw your link on the inspired room. That is one nice size bathroom. You took it from a little drab to fab instantly.
Hi there, here from Melissa’s. I love it! What a difference you made and without any blood, sweat or tears! It’s beautiful. Wish I had a bathroom big enough for a comfy chair.
Looks beautiful. What a peaceful and happy place to get ready in the morning!
I Looooove it!!! Seriously.
PS-I’m stalking from the Inspired Room
how lovely!!! I am all about shopping the house & using what you have. It truly is a dreamy bathroom now!!
Seriously this is one of the best and most dramatic actual “one day” before and afters that I have ever seen for a vintage bathroom. You’re goooood.
Wow makes me want to put a pretty comfy chair in my bathroom to really enjoy my 3 mins of peace I sneak away to steal in there. I love the clock on the table & I’m actually on the hunt for one similar, mind sharing where you found yours? Thanks
WOW! What a beautiful bathroom. At first glance, the tile is a bit scary, but you have managed to pull it all together and make it look like it should have always been that way. Way to go! Love the chair too
