If you’re like most people, the bathrooms in your home are probably on the small side. This is especially true if you have an older home. Most of the time personal care and bathroom decor items take up most of the space and there is not a lot of room for anything else.
You can get around this space issue by installing fixture that enhance the bathroom yet saves space at the same time. Having a recessed magazine holder is a great way to add some space to a tiny bathroom. A recessed magazine holder takes advantage of the space between wall studs to create storage. If you’re not feeling brave enough to cut into the drywall, a hanging magazine rack also adds additional space.
Don’t forget to measure twice before cutting or drilling.
Find the right spot in your bathroom, be sure that the rack you choose is going to fit. Not to be too tacky, but there is a reason many people refer to their restroom as the library. Try to keep the rack within easy reach, but well off of the floor. The latter placement suggestion helps keep your bathroom clean-up routine less of a hassle.
You can purchase a recessed magazine holder at any home decor or home improvement store.
If you choose a recessed magazine holder it will go between studs; a hanging magazine holder it will need to be secured to a stud itself. Everyone’s basic toolkit should include a stud finder.
If you’d like to center the rack on a wall whether vertically or horizontally, measure the length of the wall and subtract half. Mark this spot lightly with a pencil.
After you have hung your magazine rack, be sure to give it a test run with some magazines. It would be a little awkward to have it come crashing down on a guest.
