Painting a room is one of the easiest ways to transform a room with very little cost. Painting can either be your friend or enemy. I’ve always enjoyed painting…not because it fun to do….but I like what I get for my money.
One of the things that I don’t like about painting is…. painting the windows. We just purchased a 1920′s home and with that old home comes old window. They are charming and all….but oh the pain of painting them.
Purdy sent me their 6 in 1 tool to try out. {let me just say I wish I had it about a month ago} I’m not sure why I had never used this tool before, because I do lots of painting. I had one set of window left to paint, so I gave the Purdy tool a try.
This is a window I painted and sorry to say thought I had it cleaned up by using a razor blade.
Now take a look at it after I used the Purdy 6 in 1 tool-
The end has a high carbon steel blade….and with the rubber handle I was able to hold on to it better and put more pressure behind it.
Some of the features of the Purdy tool-
Scraper-
The front edge is a sharp scraper that’s perfect for removing paint flecks, glue and even wood. The blade can even be re-sharpened after it begins to dull.
Spreader-
Great for spreading putty or joint compound.
Prying-
The short, flat side is perfect for prying. You can use it to open paint cans or remove the bolts from the door hinge.
Pointy End-
The pointy end is great for digging out putty or scoring dried paint. You can pry up staples or open up cracks for patching. I’ve used it for removing caulk and it works like a charm.
All is all the Purdy tool was a great find, my only complaint is …now I will need to go redo all the other windows I cleaned up with a razor blade.
