Well painted and splattered with ketchup

My kids loved this experiment and argued for awhile over who got to wear the brand-new sparkling white shirt, and who got to paint with the ketchup. As you can see – my son went overboard with the painting and there was ketchup on the stomach, dripped down the entire shirt front, and splattered across the sleeve as well. And my pants (Not photographed. You’re welcome).

Other carbohydrate laundry stains include everyday foods like chocolate milk, ketchup and other condiments, BBQ sauce (ribs anyone?) and syrup. So basically, you know, all the good stuff.

I would guess that this is one of the most common stain groups in our household so I was interested to see Wisk laundry detergent with Stain Spectrum Technology tackle the ketchup stain.

Setting up the Stain Removal Trial

The basic directions were simple. Wipe off the big ketchup globs, pour the laundry soap over the stains and let it sit for 5 minutes to let the Stain Spectrum Technology take effect. Then rinse in luke-warm water until there were no detergent suds and check out the shirt.

Real life kicked in and I forgot to set the timer when the baby started crying, my daughter insisted on scrubbing the shirt herself, and we were at the ranch using well water – not the best water in the world for stain fighting.

Did Wisk Remove the Ketchup Stains?

As you can see – even without the prime conditions and science-lab setting, Wisk performed very well. The kids thought it was cool that I was washing the shirt in the sink, but really just the water rinse for maybe two minutes was all it took to get the stain out.
