Kids’ Study Room Inspirations

{via Velvet & Linen}

With our children back to school, our thoughts go to finding a great place for our children to do their homework and study.  Of course we would love for the space not only to encourage our children to do their best, but also a place that is lovely to look at. The study in the above picture is such a room, now if I had a study in my house like that I would never leave it.

A small niche or closet makes a perfect study area.

Things to incorporate in a good study area-

  • Good lighting
  • shelves for storage
  • cork-board
  • chalkboard
  • study supplies
  • fresh air- either from a window or fan
  • comfortable chair
  • good surface to spread papers out on.

Ideas for where you might add a study area:

  • Add desks to both ends of bunk beds
  • Make a desk using two file cabinets & a ready made counter top from your local hardware department store.  Place the counter top on top of the two file cabinets…one at each end of the counter.
  • Bar height desk- install a table top shelf with brackets to the wall, use bar stools for seating.

It would be fun to hear how you incorporate a study area in your home if you want to share with us on Facebook.

Creating our children’s study was so much fun, but seeing their faces when they walked in the room was even better! Their study gets even more beautiful as they use it and make it their own.
Thank you so much Teresa for including my children’s special room in your post! I need to incorporate some of your wonderful ideas into our design!

There are some great ideas there, we have a nook we could convert, I’m going to look at doing so now. Thanks for the inspiration!
