Halloween is just around the corner and you probably are looking for what you did with last year’s costumes. Why not get a jump on storing this year’s costumes with these fun and creative ideas?
- Clear plastic container – This is by far the easiest to use to store your costumes. With the bin being clear you will be able to see what is inside of there. You also can store your Halloween decorations in there too.
- Plastic bags or reusable bag – labeled with the child’s name. Large plastic bags that you recycle make a great place to store your Halloween costumes. You can put one costume for each bag and then label them on the outside with the kids names and sizes.
- A wardrobe bag that you keep in your closet. This is a great storage solution for adult costumes or elaborate costumes that need to hang vertically.
- A wardrobe box – kept in a closet or at the bottom of a bed. Another great solution to keep your kid’s costumes all together and get some use out of them if you want to use them throughout the year for playtime.
- A trunk – Another idea is to use an old trunk to store costumes. Especially if you have a lot. Just fold neatly and put them in. The trunk can be store in a room or in a attic or basement.
These are just some of the creative ways that you can store your Halloween costumes. Always check to see if you or your child can still wear the costumes before you store them. No matter what you store your costumes in make sure it is in a dry place. You can always donate your costumes yearly since children change their minds frequently and/or grow out of the costumes.

To keep from accumulating clutter use the one in one out rule: or every costume you bring in you should take one out. This will keep your home from getting cluttered with old costumes and make storing them much easier and take up less space.
