Valentine’s Day Heart Bunting {a Budget Friendly Craft}

When is the last time you saw something in a store that was meant for one thing and you thought of an idea to use it for something else? It honestly doesn’t happen to me very often, but the other day was different. I went in to Dollar Tree to let my daughter spend her $5 from the tooth fairy and while there I stumbled upon glittered heart table scatter. My first thought was, “why would I scatter this all over my table?” That’s when it hit me. These glittered hearts would make the PERFECT bunting when all sewn together! So, I bought a bunch of bags, went home and got to work creating this tutorial for YOU! Without further ado, the perfect Valentine’s Day Heart Bunting. {Did I mention it is budget-friendly?}

how to make an easy heart bunting

First, gather your supplies. You’ll need:

  • glittered heart table scatter {or any hearts that you find. You could even cut them yourself out of card stock.}
  • scissors
  • thread
  • sewing machine

Step 2: Before you begin to sew your hearts together, pull out about 12 inches of thread {from both your needle and the bobbin}. This will give you a little extra length when hanging, should you need it.

Step 3: Start sewing hearts! Don’t be afraid…if you can sew a straight line, you can sew this bunting! Place one heart after the other while feeding them through your machine. {watch your fingers!}

Step 3: Keep going until you’ve reached your desired length. Hint: One bag of table scatter from Dollar Tree will give you about 6 feet of bunting.

Step 4: Just let your beautiful bunting gather beside your machine as you sew along.

Step 5: After you’ve sewn all of your hearts together, just like before you started, pull out about 12 inches of thread from needle and bobbin before cutting off.

That’s it! You’re finished. Find a spot in your home that needs a little LOVE and hang your new, glittery bunting!
