This time of the year, seem to be irritated with my friends that live in warmer climates – especially when they cry about how “cold” it is, and exclaim that the 40 and 50 degree temps are ‘unseasonal’, I about lose my cool! I daydream about wearing my spring cutest – but spring hasn’t quite made it to my area of the country yet. So, in an effort to maintain sanity, I thought I would write about the Spring trends, and imagine that I am sitting in the sun on a beach, wearing some of the most adorable new trends in fashion!
PEEK AT SPRING TRENDS

This spring, there are 2 distinct color palates. One I call “The Beach”. This palate shows soft hues of grey, blue, lavender, sandy tan and seashell pink. The other palate is made up of citrus hues. Bright orange, pink, green and yellow. The hot color continues to be lavender, mixed with a blush pink and sand dune tan.

The other hot color is lemongrass. It was no mistake that Michelle Obama wore this at the inauguration! This is a very important color this spring! Think you can’t wear it? Pair it with chocolate brown or bright pink – just keep a color that looks good on you near your face.

Fashion trends continue to be more feminine; subtle details are what to look for. Bows, ruffles – the ‘it’ look is very polished and sophisticated, with a hint of vintage.
There is still a distinct preppy nautical flair to some collections; stripes and plaid, as well as red-white-blue are all still good this Spring Break! Another trend is Safari, utilizing earthy print and natural fabrics. Within this trend, we see a lot of tunics, wooden details, and the feeling is distinctly summer.
In jewelry, I am seeing a lot of mixed media layering. In other words, chunky chains paired with layers of pearls, maybe even with a layer of ribbon that is woven through a heavy link chain. Fun to wear and fun to look at!
