One of the most noticeable places aging shows is in our face. Our faces are exposed to the weather and the dry indoor air all the time, so it will age faster than the rest of our bodies. To keep our faces looking their best takes perseverance and consistency. There is no over-night way to reduce wrinkles or age spots, but we can slow down the aging process and in some cases, even reverse it. To do this, follow these 7 anti-aging steps to younger looking skin.
- Use skin care products that are all-natural and have no toxic chemicals – all natural products won’t have toxic chemicals which can over-dry your skin, can cause free-radical damage, and can cause premature aging. They can also accumulate over time in your cells, causing diseases other than skin disease.
- Don’t over-wash and don’t use hot water – over-washing and hot water will over-dry your skin and strip it of its natural oils. Yes, you need your own natural oils to keep from wrinkling.
- Use antioxidant-rich skin care products – these will fight free radicals and inflammation, which cause skin damage and disease. Antioxidants can bring healing to your skin, making you look and feel younger.
- Find skin care products that promote collagen production at a cellular level - collagen is what makes your skin wrinkle-free and protects it from sagging. Our collagen production decreases as we age. We need a safe, non-toxic product that reverses that process. They are available, but it takes some research.
- Use sun protection – either an all-natural sunscreen (watch out for nano-particles of zinc oxide) or wear a hat and light-weight clothing with long sleeves. The hat and long sleeves is my sunscreen of choice. I don’t have to worry about reapplying it!
- Use skin care products that naturally and gently slough off dead skin cells and encourage the growth of healthy new cells – this will help our skin to loose that dull, flat look and replace it with glowing, luminescent skin.
- Eat a healthy, organic diet and drink plenty of pure water – we are what we eat! What we eat affects our digestion, and if our digestion is poor and our intestines clogged, the toxins that accumulate in our colons will come out of our skin. This can cause acne, wrinkles, rashes, eczema and psoriasis, among other skin conditions. Pure water helps our bodies flush toxic waste and stay hydrated.
