Since I am prone to breakouts, I had to work long and hard to find a skin care routine that keeps my complexion clear. I approach any skin care product I am asked to review with quite a bit of initial research, and some apprehension that a new product might upset the delicate balance of my skin.
A few weeks ago I received the Super Antioxidant Liposome Night Cream by Elina Skin Care in the mail from the beauty product fairy. When I opened the jar to begin my investigation, I was surprised by the intense herbal aroma, the pale lavender color, and the consistency, more liquid than cream. I inhaled deeply. Not cloying at all, and certainly not artificial. I was intrigued. Aren’t night creams supposed to be white and super thick?
I reviewed the ingredient list and read every word on the box and website. Elina’s organic night cream isn’t white and thick because it’s 100% natural with no additives to give you that typical and expected night cream consistency. It’s formulated with super antioxidants and liposomes for emolliency, and is free of harmful trans-fats and preservatives, wax, artificial solvents like propylene glycol, and sodium laurel sulfate.
Hmmm. Lavender, Myrrh, Sandalwood, Rosemary, Rose Hips, Grapeseed, Black Currant, Calendula, Almond and Pumpkin Seed Oil? That would explain the fresh smell. I swear, I wanted to taste it.
What’s this? Colloidal Silver? Turns out the cream contains trace amounts of this fascinating ancient substance believed to have topical antiseptic properties. I was intrigued, as I wasn’t expecting this little pot of aromatherapy to be potentially beneficial for blemishes.
I started using it about two weeks ago, and the moisturization is pretty remarkable. My skin feels so silky after I apply it, and when I wake up it doesn’t feel like something is left on my skin. It is definitely not the night cream and hair rollers experience! But, the best evidence? My skin has become even clearer than before. This product passed the background check and is now a permanent part of my nighttime routine.
And, what’s this? Elina says their products are “never the same”. They change their products seasonally so that your skin doesn’t get too acclimated and stop responding. I can’t wait to investigate my next jar!
