I was recently given the opportunity to try a new body product that is designed to “age proof” your skin. There are myriad anti-aging products out there for the skin on our face, but very few effective products out there for the skin on our bodies.

I have to admit that despite all the warnings from health professionals I sun-baked religiously for most of my youth; while I always put sunscreen on my face I rarely put any on my body. As a result, the skin on my body is always dry and scaly, and I have fine wrinkles on my legs, so I was very excited to try a product that was designed to minimise all the things that concerned me.

According to Osmotics Cosmeceuticals, their Age Defense Barrier Repair Body Silk contains a combination of anti-aging technologies and natural skin repairing lipids that will:

• Keep skin healthy, smooth and glowing. Visibly reduce wrinkles, age spots and uneven skin tone.
• Defend against sun damage and environmental aging.Restore the natural moisture barrier to eliminate dry, flaky skin.

My initial impression of the Body Silk was that it was a beautifully textured cream that was easily and quickly absorbedinto the skin. This is really important for me – with two young babies, I need to be in and out of the shower quickly, not waiting around for my body cream to dry! It has a light, refreshing fragrance that is almost citrusy but doesn’t interfere with my choice of perfume.

Immediately, my skin had a glow to it; it is not a shimmer, but more like healthy lustrous skin. My skin tone appeared more even and the small scar on my leg was minimised. I tried the Body Silk for a month, using it every morning on one leg and one arm after patting myself dry from the shower, and using my regular drugstore cream on the other arm and leg.

At the end of the month, there was a noticeable difference between the two sides. The fine wrinkles on my leg hadn’t disappeared, but they were vastly improved, and the flakiness was gone altogether. A great extra bonus was that when I shaved that leg, I got a much closer shave, and very few ingrown hairs which usually plague me!

Even better, my husband commented on nice my leg felt (lucky he was only feeling me up on that leg, and not the dry and scaly one – my evening could have turned out very different!!)

Overall, I was very impressed with this product and although the price tag is much higher than many other body creams, I needed to use much less of it than my regular body cream. I would definitely purchase the Age Defense Barrier Body Silk for myself.
