I’ve been getting a lot (seriously. A. LOT.) of questions about what to wear at BlissDom ’09. The short answer is: whatever you want! The Blissfully Domestic staff wants you to be comfortable! But if you want more specifics than that, here’s what I have to offer up. For daytime, wear a dressy jean or nice black pants with a nice top and heels or cute flats. What is a “dressy” jean? I’ll define that as a dark-wash, medium-rise jean. Boot cut looks good on everyone, but wear whatever cut you are most comfortable in. These Mossimo Black boot-cut jeans in Dark Vintage are a favorite of our Blissfully Delish editor, Rachel, and they’re only $27.99.

These would look great with a boot like the model is wearing, but if you’re worried about your feet hurting all day, opt for a cute pair of flats like these leopard-print Malindi from Crocs. ME-OWW!

And what to wear on top? Well, I am a big fan of tunics, like this one from Madras 641:

If you’re not into tunics, why not a sophisticated short jacket like this satin number from Kohl’s?
Another great satin option is this gorgeous top from the Old Navy Women’s Plus collection:

Now, if you are just DYING to play dress-up, no worries! We will have two fabulous, fun cocktail parties you can dress up for if you want to. Of course, that little black dress you have in your closet is probably perfect for this! Here’s what I am wearing, courtesy of Shabby Apple. It’s so feminine and really comfortable. I love it! And that rouching hides a multitude of sins, let me tell you! Shabby Apple has a great selection of dresses in all styles and colors that would be perfect for this event.

If you prefer some color, go for something like this purple beauty from Banana Republic:

At BlissDom ’09, we want you to come as you are! So pick something that makes you feel GREAT, and rock it as only you can! We can’t wait to see you there!

Woo Hoo! I’m famous!!
Seriously, I have never gotten so many compliments as when I’m wearing those jeans. I may buy 7 pair so I can wear them every single day!
I have that satin plus size Old Navy top and it is one of my faves! Great suggestions, thank you!
I’d like to add that Kiyonna has gorgeous plus size styles and a big sale going on right now!
Well, I appreciate it! Now, I get to go find myself a cute outfit…dare I say a dress, possibly!!! Thanks a bunch!
I am going to be the most under dressed person there! LOL
Hey, is the dress for the cocktail party going to be cocktail party’ish because now that I have this lovely broken foot, I don’t see too much fashion or dressing up in my near future? I mean, does the cocktail party require a “little black dress” kind of thing?
I can’t believe those are Crocs. ADORABLE.
I am just so thrilled at the thought of wearing ANYTHING for two days that a child hasn’t wiped her nose on. It will be a marked improvement, to say the least.
Thanks for putting this together girlfriend!
If anyone is worrying about assembling a Blissdom wardrobe, it should be me!
But I don’t think I will get it together in time! If not, you won’t be the only one in black pants at the cocktail party b/c you couldn’t find a dress that works. Since I’m local, I’ll probably wear the same thing to both.
If that makes anyone else feel better about her options!
I take credit for Shabby Apple. And if anyone wears 16 Candles I’ll smack down. Just sayin’.
You can still get 15% off at Shabby Apple with the code “mooshinindy15off” through the first.
Thank you…great post! I was just starting to stress out a tiny little bit about the “What to Wear” question. Thanks for the emphasis on comfort! Counting down the days to Bliss!
And to think I was planning to wear a Moo Moo with my bathrobe over it. Thank god I know better now.
Lovely lovely picks! I think I’m taking the kids shopping today!!

Those crocs are great, right up my alley. I’m going to check them out!
Wow. The jeans in that photo are TOO SHORT for those boots.
I was just thinking about this myself. I need to get something. And I think I saw the perfect heels at Target for 75% off. YIPPEE!
Thanks so much for this! I was thinking in the right directions, but now I feel better about it!!
I like that purple one and the black one! I’ve never seen one with a neckline like the black one before. Thanks for finding it! I’ve seen a few like the purple on at a couple of places on http://www.gatheringguide.com/ec/bridal_shops_dresses.html though. It’s still beautiful but you might not be the only one wearing it.
